The Edinburgh Marathon partners with JoggingBuddy.com

Date: August 2009

JoggingBuddy.com the Free Social Network for runners and joggers has partnered with one if the UK's top Marathon events; The Edinburgh Marathon.

JoggingBuddy has rapidly become one of the key Social Network websites dedicated to joggers and runners; its key focus is to allow members to find someone in their local area to go running with. The website was founded by internet Entrepreneur Tony Piedade who said "JoggingBuddy continues to grow at a steady rate. Our members come from all walks of life, all ages, all professions and all levels of jogging/running ability. I hope that the site will continue to encourage people to get out there and find someone to train with and make running a habit, not just something we do to lose a bit of weight before the summer! I am grateful for the continued foresight and leadership being shown by the race directors that have supported the website and very much look forward to a long working relationship with the Edinburgh Marathon. In 2010 The Edinburgh Marathon will also incorporate The Scottish Half Marathon so with around 25,000 runners expected to enter the 2010 Edinburgh Marathon, Scottish Half Marathon and Hairy Haggis Team Relay we are now partnering with one of the biggest running events in the UK"

In 2009 there were 13,104 runners in the Edinburgh Marathon and increase of 28% from 2008 with entrants from over 50 Countries. Edinburgh Marathon Marketing Director Damien O'Looney said, "JoggingBuddy has a great offering, the best thing about it is that its FREE and simple. As race organisers we recognise that training is important, and it can be a lonely old road clocking up those miles. This service presents a great option for our runners in the UK and overseas to have access to a community of runners of all levels and abilities to get together, train, exchange training tips and even advice on where to stay. We are happy to be supporting JoggingBuddy's work for the benefit of the running community."
