Today sees the launch of a new partnership between Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust and Human Race, the UK's leading multi sport event specialists. The Charity, set up by Double Olympic Champion Dame Kelly Holmes in July 2008 is to become the official Charity partner for three showcase events run by Human Race this year. The partnership gets off to flying start with the Lucozade Sport Race your Pace Half Marathon on the 28th of March and extends to the Eton Half Distance Triathlon and the ultra-FIT Triathlon Challenge on the 22nd and 23rd of May. Dame Kelly Holmes, Chair of the DKH Legacy Trust said: "I am delighted that my Charity has been selected as the official Charity partner for these events. We are really chuffed that we have been chosen to work with an event partner as well respected and dynamic as Human Race. We make a difference to young people through the support of world class athletes as role models and mentors on projects like the BT Backing Talent Programme, which helps the up and coming stars of the future learn what it takes to be the best. The opportunity as a new young charity to increase awareness of our work and also raise funds to help us reach more young people is invaluable." John Lunt, MD of Human Race and Triathlon Event Manager, London 2012 Olympics, said: "We are really excited about working with the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust. Inspiring young people through sport is one of the key aims at both Human Race and the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust. We are very proud to support such a worthwhile charity". The first event, in which participants can raise funds for Dame Kelly's Charity, is the Lucozade Sport Race Your Pace Half Marathon at Dorney Lake, the Olympic rowing venue for the 2012 Olympic Games. The appeal of this event is the flat run course going down the side of the lake, making it the perfect course for beginners and seasoned runners alike. The Charity hopes that the broad appeal of the event will give as many people as possible the chance to get involved and support their work. |
