JoggingBuddy members, Captain Samantha Toop completed a mamouth 385km run in honour of fallen friends.
While most of us spend our working lives looking forward to our holidays; Samantha decided that on her "leave" after a tour in afghanistan she would run 385km to remember the 385 soldiers that have given their lives in Afghanistan.
Samantha set out a goal of running this distance over 7 days taking her around the south and visiting a number of key military units along the way. Despite a very wet start on day 1 Sam kept to her schedule and completed the full 385km finishing at the war memorial in Bournemouth on Remembrance day, Friday 11th November 2011.
Samatha's extaordinary challenge was not only to remember her fallen comrades but to use this run as an opportunity to raise money for a great charity, Help For Heroes, who support the many Personal Recovery Centres in the UK which become home for many of our wounded soldiers.
Tony Piedade, Founder & CEO of JoggingBuddy.com said " I have some very close ties with the military, as such I was touched by Sam's motivation to do this run. Its a great pleasure to have her as part of one of the worlds greatest community of runners; I hope that others will find inspiration in her story.
So far Samantha Toop has raised over £2,000 for her charity; its not too late to donate a little and help remember those who have given their lives while helping provide a new start to those that return home injured.
